The nominees for the Best Game Soundtrack Award at the 2025 Grammy Awards have been announced
The list of nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards has been announced, and among them, the Best Video Game Soundtrack category has attracted a lot of attention.
This year marks the third year that the award for Best Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media has been presented at the Grammys. This section was first added to the list of awards in 2023 and since then, prominent composers have competed in it.
According to VGC , this year five games have been nominated to receive this prestigious award:
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora composed by Pinar Toprak
- God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla composed by McCreary
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2 composed by John Paesano
- Star Wars Outlaws composed by Wilbert Roget II
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord composed by Winifred Phillips
It is interesting to note that Burr McCreary is the only composer who has been nominated for the award every year since its introduction. He was previously nominated for this award for the music of Call of Duty: Vanguard and the original version of God of War Ragnarök.
According to the Academy of Music, the award is given to soundtrack albums that consist primarily of original pieces and were created specifically for video games or other interactive media released within a specified time period.
The first winner of this award in 2023 was the soundtrack of Dawn of Ragnarök expansion pack of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, composed by Stephanie Economou. In 2024, this award also went to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor with a joint score by Stephen Barton and Gordie Hub.
What do you think of this year's nominees? Which work do you think deserves to receive this award?
